ABOUT THIS ROLE:

BCM is recruiting a Backhoe operator who knows how to operate a backhoe in a safe and efficient manner. Backhoe operator is responsible for operating the equipment to dig, scoop and lift materials. You will use the back hoe to excavate designated areas, load and transport materials within the construction site. 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clean up and maintaining backhoes and other equipment
• Assisting loading and unloading of heavy equipment from trucks and tractors.
• Follow all health and safety regulations in the discharge of their duties.
• Operate Machinery efficiently, safely, and competently to ensure maximum output
• Carry out Pre-starts on equipment.
• Carry out landfill operations tasks as assigned by supervisors.
• Maintain clean and hazard free work environment
• Prepares job sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards
• Help equipment operators, carpenters, masons, and other skilled labour when necessary.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Site based.
• Working hours is 6 days a week, 12hours per day, 06:00am to 06:00pm daily
• Overtime rate shall be applied accordingly for hours in excess of 40 hours per week

TRAINING, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE CHECKLIST

• Basic Education certificate or any equivalent qualification
• Valid Driving/operating License
• An understanding of occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards  
• Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team
• Physical fitness
• Hand –eye-foot coordination
• Minimum experience of at least 4 years in the position of backhoe operator within the industry
